About Swatchle

Swatchle is a daily color-guessing game. Five clues, one board of 110 swatches, and one question: how well do you know your colors?

The idea

You've seen some colors thousands of times: the red on a soda can, the blue of a flag, the yellow of a fast food sign. Swatchle asks whether you can pick them out of a lineup.

Each clue points to something real and describes it without naming the color. You choose the swatch you think matches, and the closer you land, the more stars you get. A round is worth up to 3 stars, and a day is worth up to 15. The How to play page has the full rules.

One puzzle a day

Everyone plays the same five rounds each day, and a new puzzle arrives at midnight where you are. There are no accounts and nothing to install. Your progress is saved on your own device.

The board

The board has 11 columns of color, from red around to pink, each running through 9 shades from a pale tint at the top to a deep shade at the bottom. Underneath sits one row of 11 grays, from white to near-black. That makes 110 swatches.

Every swatch is picked by hand. The colors start from the Tailwind CSS palette, one that web designers know well, and some are then tuned by eye so that neighbors are easy to tell apart.

The board is the same on every screen.

Sharing without spoilers

When you finish, you can share a small grid of stars. It shows how many stars you scored in each round and nothing about the answers, so you can compare with friends before they've played.

Free to play

Swatchle is free. Ads are coming to help pay for it, and the Privacy page explains what the game stores and what will change when they arrive.

Who makes it

Swatchle is a DMTTR LLC product.

Brands and names

Clues mention real brands, teams, and places because their colors are part of everyday life. Swatchle isn't affiliated with or endorsed by any of them, and their names and marks belong to their owners.
