Swatchle has no accounts and sets no cookies. We don't know who you are, and the game doesn't need to.
What stays on your device
Your progress, your scores, and the day's puzzle are saved in your browser's local storage, so a game survives a refresh. That information never leaves your device. Clearing your browser's site data for swatchle.com erases it.
What we count
To see how each puzzle plays, the game tells our server two things:
- That the day's puzzle was opened.
- Which swatch was picked in each round.
Each one adds to a running total, like "40 players picked this swatch in round 3." Nothing about you is stored with it: no name, account, device ID, or IP address. We can't tell which picks were yours.
Once enough people have played, the game shows some of those totals back to everyone: how many players scored each number of stars in each round, and the average. They are totals for the whole day, never one player's game.
Visits
We use Vercel Web Analytics to count page visits. It works without cookies and doesn't follow you to other sites. To tell a repeat visit from a new one, it makes an anonymous code from the request and throws it away after 24 hours.
It records the page you opened, the site that sent you, your approximate location (country, region, and city), and your browser, operating system, and device type.
Services we rely on
- Vercel hosts the site. Like any web host, it handles your IP address and browser details to deliver pages, and it keeps short-lived logs.
- Google Fonts serves the typefaces, so Google receives your IP address when your browser loads them.
- Supabase stores the anonymous totals described above.
Sharing your results
The Share button hands your score grid to your device's share menu or copies it to your clipboard. Where it goes from there is up to you. The grid shows your stars, never the answers.
Ads
Swatchle doesn't show ads today, but ads are coming. The game is free, and ads will help pay for it. Ad companies usually set cookies and collect more than we do, so before the first ad appears, this page will say who serves them, what they collect, and what choices you have.
What we don't do
We don't sell or rent data, and we don't build profiles of players.
If this changes
If Swatchle adds ads, accounts, or anything else that changes what is collected, this page will be updated before it happens, with a new date at the top.
