Color games like Wordle
Wordle turned one puzzle a day and a grid of squares into a habit. These games bring that habit to color, and each one tests your eye in a different way. We make Swatchle, so it's listed first, but we've tried to describe every game fairly.
At a glance
| Game | You're given | You answer with |
|---|---|---|
| Swatchle | A clue about something real | One swatch on a 110-color board |
| Dialed | A color, for a few seconds | Sliders, from memory |
| Hexcodle | A color | A hex code, in five tries |
| Colordle | How close each guess is | Color names or hex codes |
| Colorfle | A color mixed from three others | Which colors, and how much |
| Colorle | A color | Sliders or a hex code |
| ColorGuesser | A color name | A spot on a color wheel |
| Name the Hue | A color name | A swatch from a grid |

All nine are daily, and all of them play in a web browser.
How each one plays
Swatchle
Five clues a day, each about something real, like a brand's logo, a team's jersey, or a country's flag. The clue never names the color, so you're working from memory. You pick a swatch on a hand-picked board of 110 colors and score up to 3 stars a round for landing close, then share a grid of your stars that can't spoil the answers.
Dialed
Dialed shows you a color for a moment, then takes it away. You rebuild it from memory with hue, saturation, and brightness sliders, over five rounds scored out of 50. Color is one of several memory games on the site, with a daily challenge and head-to-head play.
Hexcodle
Hexcodle shows you a target color and gives you five tries to type its six-digit hex code. After each guess, every digit gets a checkmark or an arrow pointing higher or lower, so you learn how hex codes work as you go.
Colordle
Colordle hides a color, and you guess it by name or by hex code. Each guess shows how close it looks to the answer, and after enough tries, hints tell you to go lighter or darker, redder or greener, and yellower or bluer.
Colorfle
Colorfle's target is a color mixed from three others. You get six tries to work out which colors went in and how much of each, with green and yellow marks for right and almost-right, the way Wordle marks letters.
Colorle
Colorle asks you to match a target color with RGB sliders or a hex code, and shows how far off each try is.
ColorGuesser
ColorGuesser gives you a color name, and you find it on a color wheel. There are five colors a day, worth up to 100 points each.
Name the Hue
Name the Hue also starts from a color name, like "Sage Green," and you pick the match from a grid of swatches. Each guess is scored by how close it looks, and you keep going until you find it, aiming to beat par. Of all the games here, it plays the most like Swatchle.
The Daily Hue
The Daily Hue picks one color from a real artwork and keeps the artwork hidden. You match the color with hue, saturation, and lightness sliders in up to five tries, then see the painting it came from.
Which one should you play?
- If you like trivia, try Swatchle. It's as much about what you remember of the world as about color.
- If you know your color names, try ColorGuesser or Name the Hue.
- If you trust your eye, try Dialed. It's the purest test of color memory here.
- If you think in numbers, try Hexcodle, Colordle, or Colorle.
- If you like mixing paint, try Colorfle.
- If you love art, try The Daily Hue.
There's no reason to pick just one.
